It is vital to enhance the use of Media towards creating a sense of shared “National Consciousness”. As such, Media have enormous opportunities in steering the tides towards such a vision. Therefore, the Department of Information and Media (DoIM) under the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) engages with various Media Personnel and personalities periodically.
In view of the above, the DoIM initiated it’s second “Open House Dialogue” Forum with a few Social Media Influencers of Bhutan on April 12 2022.
The gist of the discussions largely focused on how to foster a National sense of shared responsibility through a positive shift in the mindset. As a small nation, it is necessary to armour a strong society that works with a common theme. With the evolution of the internet and various social networking sites, it is imperative to create a conducive environment to develop such National Consciousness. Therefore, relevant agencies need to facilitate proper channels for those Social Media Influencers who “need to be facilitated” for the larger purpose of accurate collective information sharing.
The program was attended by the Hon’ble Secretary of MoIC, Five Social Media Influencers: Passu Diary, Denkars Getaway, Humans of Thimphu, Yeewong Bhutan, and Park Sonam, and the officials from DoIM.
