In support of government’s initiative to realize 21st Century Economic Roadmap, the Ministry of Information and Communications is in the process of formulating a Data Analytics project titled “Medical & Health Data Service” with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
In this respect, Mr.Takuro Takeuchi San, Senior Director General, South Asia Department, JICA HQ,JICA made the presentation to the Honourable Prime Minister and other executive members of the government, namely, the Minister for Minister of Labour & Human Resources (MoLHR), Minister for MoIC, Director General , RCSC, Director DITT, Director NSB. Other relevant officials from Ministry of Health (MoH), Gross National Happiness Commission Office (GNHC) & Data Science Project, JICA HQ, JICA Bhutan, and members from Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting Co., Ltd & GMO Unite X Inc. also attended the meeting. The presentation was aimed at drawing Multi-sectoral coordination to deliberate collaboration among various stakeholder groups to jointly achieve the project outcomes and to seek guidance from Honourable Prime Minister in charting the way ahead for the project. The project aims to achieve six outputs within its four year project period.
The Department of Information and Media under Ministry of Information and Communications conducted the very first Open House Dialogue with the Print Media. The meeting was chaired by Hon’ble Secretary of Ministry of Information and Communications. The Open House Dialogue is the vision of the Hon’ble Secretary of MoIC and the Ministry as whole to periodically engage with the media Counterpart, which includes the mainstream media and the Social Media.

- Promoting shared National Consciousness through responsible media
- Important role of Media in Democracy
- The promotion of Heroes (Role Models) through media stories
- Sustainability of News media
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Bhutan Office handed over four thousand face masks and one thousand face shields to the Ministry of Information and Communications today.The handing-taking over note was signed between the Hon’ble Minister and the Chief Representative of the JICA Bhutan Office at MoIC, Thimphu in presence of the Hon’ble Secretary and other officials from MoIC and JICA.
The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be distributed to frontline workers under the Department of Air Transport and Road Safety Transport Authority towards the improvement of hygiene for the officials.Further, the Ministry deliberated on the importance of existing projects and initiatives under the scope of the JICA Bhutan Office and extended gratitude for all the help and assistance designated to Bhutan.
